Helping the Homeless with a Year Outdoors

Earlier this year, an IKON team went out with a camera crew and conceptual artist, Beau, to hang ten reclaimed and recycled front doors on walls in locations across Bristol.

The aim was to raise awareness and challenge perceptions of homelessness. To the artist, Beau, a front door symbolises having somewhere to live: a permanent residence – a luxury not enjoyed by everyone.

The 10 doors were hung by the IKON team, and then left to organically gather their own identities from the life happening around them.

Nine months later, the doors wait for homes of a different nature, and are currently in galleries across the country.

Tonight the doors open at gallery 44AD in Bath for a special exhibition on Beau’s home turf. And during 2018, they will be exhibited around the country before going to auction, with 100% OF PROFITS BEING DONATED TO CHARITIES SUPPORTING PEOPLE IN CRITICAL NEED IN THE SOUTH WEST.

Beau’s thought-provoking Outdoors campaign has caught the attention of the art-world and we’re hoping it will be a huge success. Please watch the video on the website’s home page and get involved in anyway you can.
