In September 2017 we handed over keys to this fantastic townhouse development at the end of a 16 month programme.  Built onto the cliff face, Marine Place consists of 9 townhouses overlooking Clevedon Pier in North Somerset: just 5 minutes’ walk from the popular shops and cafes of Hill Road, and 20 minutes from Bristol.

The 3 bedroom homes benefit from private parking; a state-of-the-art Leicht kitchen; a family room that opens onto the terrace, with the option of a 4th bedroom. And with balconies also off the kitchens, residents will be able to enjoy the incredible views wherever they are in the house.

Here at IKON, we relish a challenge, and the early weeks of this programme certainly provide one! To prepare the site, we had to dig into the side of the cliff face, and excavate down and through the rock. We installed a retaining, waterproof structure at the back of the site in order to retain the car park, which sits 3 stories underground. The space for Plot 9 didn’t exist so we had to dig back and soil-nail the bank in place.

The facades boast part-rubble stone skirt; as well as a 4-part render system to manage the weather and help protect the new homes from sea and wind. The triple glazing we used meant that the townhouses were so well insulated, a highly-efficient, extensive extraction system had to be installed throughout each home.

The result is a quiet, contemporary sanctuary where residents can enjoy fantastic skies, and the unpredictable weather one expects by the sea for years to come.
